Your Best Work Should Not Be Buried on Your Website

Show relevant evidence where prospective clients can use it to assess your offer.

Your Best Work Should Not Be Buried on Your Website
From the Select Creatives conversation with Candice of Sculpt 25 Creative.

Let the work support the promise

In the recorded review, Deen notices good-quality work further down the website and recommends making the portfolio more visible. The point is about sequence: a prospective client should be able to see evidence of capability while deciding whether the services are relevant.

Choose a few projects that match the type of enquiry you want. The most visually dramatic project is not always the most useful opening example. Relevance helps someone recognise that you understand their kind of problem.

Explain what the viewer is seeing

An image needs context. Name the challenge, describe your role and explain what was delivered. Where an outcome is documented, include it with enough detail to make the claim understandable. Avoid attaching a business result to a project unless you can substantiate it.

Separate client work from independent concepts and external examples. Clear credit helps the visitor evaluate the work accurately. A website discussed in an interview is not automatically a project in the studio’s portfolio.

Build a route from proof to conversation

After showing a relevant project, connect it to the service behind it. Someone should be able to understand how the work relates to their own brief, then find a way to discuss that brief with the team.

Review the portfolio on smaller screens and make sure the examples remain readable. Keep the opening selection focused, with deeper case studies available for visitors who want detail. The goal is to put useful evidence at the point where a client is forming an opinion.

Put the review into practice

Choose one customer journey on your website and review it with these questions in mind. If you need an outside perspective, discuss your website with Select Creatives.
